One creative goal of this year is to explore photography of footpaths. It is these wild in-between places I am drawn to; they have their own characters distinct from populated villages.
I set out to capture images freely and see what I bring home to the developing tank. I’m finding it a challenge; the experience of travelling along the trails seems far detached in the photographs.
A lot of what draws me in, hedgerows, bramble, nettles and rickety old fences seem to get lost in a graphical muddle.
I wonder if I need to explore the edges of daylight, or the rain or fog. Perhaps I need to go further and manifest things to capture rather than mirror what I find.
