Stuck at frame 35 of a 36 exposure roll of film, this batch of images has been trapped inside my camera since my New Year's walk at Compton Verney. I exposed the last image on Friday, back at Compton Verney. I always find as a photographer a pull between the images that resonate, and images I think will make a nice photograph.
The following Images have a far greater pull for me, they’re what I am drawn towards. Pathways, trails, old lonely pastural Albion. I could trade all the picturesque images of Swans and Bridges for ploughed fields flooded by rain. They communicate so much more to me, the feeling of travelling through interconnected pathways in a barren hedgerow-edged land. What they rarely are though is popular or even appreciated. It’s the eternal struggle of doing something different, going against the normal, perhaps it requires a doubling down of focus and thought to raise it into the consciousness of the viewer.
